Proactive Maintenance Schedule for Hydraulic Systems

Learn the best practices for maintaining your hydraulic systems to maximize uptime and efficiency.

Effective maintenance of hydraulic systems is pivotal to ensuring longevity and reliability. The maintenance schedule can vary depending on the type of hydraulic components used and their operating conditions. A typical maintenance interval for piston pumps is suggested at 10,000 hours, equivalent to about 14 months.

Daily maintenance should include checks on the oil level and temperature in the power unit tanks, assessing the oil for any signs of contamination, and inspecting the system for leaks. It's also crucial to maintain the integrity of screws, pipe clamps, and pressure gauges, alongside monitoring the operational noise of pumps and motors.

Every six weeks, focus on air filter maintenance and the cleanliness of the cooling water pipe strainers. It's essential to inspect and clean the hydraulic power unit, check for leaks, and ensure that all hydraulic connections are tightened properly.

Twice a year, it's advisable to analyze oil samples for signs of contamination and wear. Check the pressure of accumulators if applicable, and record any new or persistent issues in the service book for future reference.

On an annual basis, drain and clean the power unit oil tank thoroughly to remove any sediment and contaminants. Ensure that the system is completely flushed and that all hydraulic components are tested for functionality. If necessary, coordinate with the manufacturer or a qualified engineer for any specialized component servicing.
